What Documents Do You Need to Rent a Car in Saudi Arabia?

Car rental documentation requirements in Saudi Arabia differ slightly for Saudi residents, GCC nationals, and international visitors. Knowing exactly what to bring before you arrive at the branch will save you time and frustration.

For Saudi Nationals and Saudi Residents

• National ID (Hawiyya) or valid Iqama for residents
• Saudi driving licence — must be valid and not expired
• Credit or debit card in the driver's name for the security deposit

For GCC Nationals

• GCC national ID or valid passport
• Home-country driving licence issued by a GCC member state — accepted at all Enterprise KSA branches without an International Driving Permit
• Credit or debit card in the driver's name

For International Visitors

• Valid passport — must be the same passport used to enter Saudi Arabia
• International Driving Permit (IDP) — required for all non-GCC international licences. An IDP must accompany your home-country licence; neither document alone is accepted.
• Original home-country driving licence — must be presented alongside the IDP
• Credit or debit card in the driver's name

Minimum Age Requirements

The minimum age to rent at Enterprise KSA is 21 years old. Drivers under 25 may be subject to a Young Driver Surcharge.

Additional Drivers

Additional drivers must present all of the same documentation as the primary driver and sign the rental agreement at the counter. There is a nominal daily fee per additional driver.

Important Note on Cards

A security pre-authorisation is placed on your card at the time of rental. Ensure your card has sufficient available credit or funds to cover both the rental cost and the pre-authorisation amount.
