Car Rental Insurance in Saudi Arabia: What You Need to Know
Before you pick up your keys at the counter, here's everything you need to know about protection options for rentals in KSA.
Renting a car in Saudi Arabia is a straightforward process, but understanding your insurance and protection options is essential before you drive off. This guide walks you through every coverage type offered by Enterprise KSA so you can make an informed choice.
Third-Party Liability (TPL)
Under Saudi law, all rental vehicles are required to carry third-party liability insurance. This covers bodily injury or property damage caused to third parties in the event of an accident that is deemed to be your fault. TPL is included in all Enterprise KSA rates.
Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
CDW reduces your financial liability in the event of damage to the rental vehicle. Without CDW, you may be responsible for the full cost of repairs up to the vehicle's value. Adding CDW limits your out-of-pocket exposure to the stated excess amount on your rental agreement.
Super CDW
Super CDW (also called Zero Excess CDW) eliminates the excess entirely, meaning you pay nothing in the event of accidental vehicle damage. This is the most comprehensive protection option and is recommended for first-time renters or those travelling on unfamiliar roads.
Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)
PAI provides a lump-sum benefit in the event of accidental death or permanent disability of the driver or passengers. It also covers medical expenses arising from an accident during the rental period.
Does My Credit Card Cover Rental Insurance?
Some Saudi and international credit cards include rental car protection as a cardholder benefit. Check with your card issuer before your rental to understand what is and is not covered, and whether you need to notify the card company when booking.
Our Recommendation
For peace of mind, Enterprise KSA recommends at minimum adding CDW to your rental. Explore our full range of protection packages when booking online or ask at the counter.
